Why verification
The platform works exclusively with registered businesses. To ensure reliability, safety and transparency, all business owners must complete a verification process before gaining access to the platform.
All participating businesses must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and have an active business status.
Businesses must comply with relevant Dutch safety and working conditions regulations to participate.
Verified businesses receive a verification badge that is visible to tenants and platform visitors.

All business owners must verify their KvK registration. SpotShelf checks via the official KvK registry whether the business actively exists.

Businesses that cannot verify their KvK number cannot receive approval. Our administrators offer a manual verification option for specific cases.
Dutch regulations
Businesses participating on the platform must comply with applicable Dutch laws and regulations regarding safety and working conditions.
Employers in the Netherlands are required to provide a safe working environment and organise appropriate emergency response measures.
Business locations must comply with building and fire safety regulations under the Dutch Building Decree.
Depending on the type of business, additional municipal permits may be required.
Our verification process
SpotShelf follows a structured verification process to confirm that participating businesses are legitimate and compliant.
We verify the KvK number via the official trade register and check business status, name and address.
The registered business address is compared against the KvK registration to ensure consistency.
The business owner confirms in writing that the business complies with applicable Dutch safety laws and regulations.
After successful verification, the business receives a verified status and badge visible on the platform.
Verification status
Businesses that successfully complete verification receive a visible badge on their public profile. This gives tenants and visitors confidence that they are dealing with a legitimate business.
